I’m continuing my research on gladiatorial combats for this brief but important scene featuring Gaius, Marcia, and the rest of the imperial family as they attend spectacles in the great Flavian Amphitheater in honor of Lucius Petronius.
I came across this neat program made by the Smithsonian Channel on gladiators and the bat-shit crazy emperor, Commodus (and of course the infamous movie with Russell Crowe). Reverse engineering and experimental archaeology. Click on the link below and enjoy!
This Colosseum scene in Games of Rome will introduce another Roman character, Vibia Sabina, the real wife of Hadrian. Her character profile will be added to the list soon. In my fictional account, Sabina and Gaius have their own history of dalliances. Messy stuff. 😀
