Oh, Bryaxis. Oh, Max.

You guys are breaking my heart. NOTE: Spoilers for book 1, Dominus.

“Bryaxis meant no offense, sir. This long, wearisome journey has loosened his impudent tongue.” Max slammed his elbow into Bry’s side. “Apologize to our noble senator, slave. Your new master will not tolerate any insolence.”

Bry murmured through gritted teeth. “My sincere apologies, Senator Plinius. And you are correct—I meant absolutely nothing to Counselor Petronius. I was merely property, like an old chair broken down for kindling or a worn pair of sandals tossed in the rubbish pit. Maximus, on the other hand, has dutifully licked Fabius’s patrician boots like fucking well-healed dog for years.”

They’re close, long-time friends. They spat like brothers. But poor Bry…. 🙁

yes thank you for letting them be friends. Bryaxis needs friends. Not sure Gaius is ‘friendly’ exactly

I wouldn’t describe Gaius as a friendly chap either. But Max and Bry have a unique, intimate connection. Oh, perhaps Fragmentum 3 should be a Luc&Bry/Gaius&Max orgy romp?Anywho, writing fast and furious here. 😀
