Perhaps the final nugget before Games of Rome is published next month (although 20 would be a nice even number, so we’ll see). This is from the last chapter and features Gaius and Allerix. Unedited. No spoilers. May or may not appear in the published book. Love you all for your support and patience. 😀
Attracted by the sounds of splashing water, he wandered into the courtyard off the grand formal garden. Back and forth through the crystal clear water in the large, shallow swimming pool, the Dacian swam lap after lap, his perfectly muscled body visible beneath the shimmering surface. Gaius crossed his arms and leaned against one of the columns to appreciate the splendid view.
Allerix grabbed the tiled edge and stopped for a breather. As he stood in the waist-deep water, rivulets dripping down his chest and abdomen, Gaius chuckled. “You look even hairier when wet, my furry barbarian.”
Alle brushed back his soaked, ebony hair and smiled. “Greetings, Dominus. Are you feeling better, sir?”
“I feel fine, although I find today’s weather a tad chilly for a swim. Aren’t you cold?”
Alle waded over and stared up into Gaius’s eyes. “Back in Dacia, we had bottomless mountain lakes as dark as night and as cold as ice. On blistering hot days, which were rare, I’d sneak off to one of those lakes for a swim. Every damn time I’d freeze my balls and lips blue. This glorious pool of yours is tepid and refreshing.”
“I’m pleased you’re enjoying it.”
“I’d enjoy it even more if you’d join me, sir.”
