Excerpt from “Bashir” and a paperback giveaway!

Back in 2014, I penned my first short contemporary original story, “Bashir,” for the charity anthology, Kickass Anthology. Fiona Fu donated  a gorgeous piece of original cover artwork for my short.

Kickass cover 3

All proceeds of this amazing collection of short stories (400+ pages total) and custom story covers go to help defray the medical costs of recovery for a great author, Eric Arvin.

Last year a bought a couple of the paperback versions of this anthology, and I’m giving away ONE SIGNED COPY OF THE KICKASS ANTHOLOGY (signed by me) to a reader who comments to this post. Say anything you’d like—make me laugh—but be sure to leave your email address so I can contact you for your mailing address (use “at” instead of @ so your email addy stays safe). I won’t share your email or address with anyone.

Here’s a wee excerpt from “Bashir” featuring a young Charlie Hughes.

As I squatted to finish clearing my little section of a Roman mosaic floor, I glanced over and saw that dark-haired young workman staring at me, again. His mesmerizing emerald green eyes, which complemented his olive skin, peered over the red-and-white checkered scarf that covered most of his head and face. His eyes had haunted my dreams since the moment I spotted him three weeks earlier. Yeah, those kind of dreams.

I estimated him to be about nineteen, maybe twenty. I’d heard his name spoken only once. It was during the first days of the season when one of the old, sun-wrinkled Tunisian laborers had yelled at him for some mistake that had seemed trivial to me.

His name was Bashir. I would later learn that it meant ‘bearer of good news.’

But to this horny young gay guy, ‘bearer of hypnotic sexy eyes who might like me’ seemed more fitting. Though, to be honest, I had no idea if he liked me. But he did stare at me, a lot.

You can enter this giveaway from now until January 30th. One entry per reader. Just comment on this post. That’s it. My arrogant prick of a cat will pick the winner on February 1st (yeah, I haven’t figured out exactly how the cat picks the winner, but I will.)  Good Luck!!!

We have a pair of sparrow hawks in our garden, we live near a wooded area and also have resident Tawny owls. They do spook my Miss Kitty, but they are more interested in hunting for doves and rodents, so she just cackles at them all from the safety of indoors 😀
