Reflections on December 8th

In 1980, my life changed on this day. It hadn’t been the first time my life had changed, but it was worst in my short years.  John had been murdered. Murdered? I couldn’t comprehend the horror. The emptiness. The tears. I left for college soon after, and the pain of that loss was pushed to the background.

I read Robert Graves’ I, Claudius when I was maybe 14, long before John’s death. I found my world… ancient Rome and all its glorious, grimy bullshit. John would have approved. I had originally thought I’d become a Medievalist, cause knights and all, but Rome was too tempting. There was Caesar. And Diocletian. And Trajan. And glory. And scandal. And so much sex. And so much fucking loss. So much death. So many scattered ruins. So many memories lost. So many loves forgotten.

And then John Lennon died. And my childhood died. I drank my first rum and Coke and smoked my first cigarette. And my complicated adventure of loving Rome and mourning my childhood began. December 9th. 1980. Life, Part 2. Rome.

The audiobook of Dominus, Book 1 is bloody incredible. Release dates soon.

Hug your loves tonight, even the ones who don’t know you. Even if it’s only in your imagination. Imagine.

Your love matters.
JPK xoxo

Hello, love. It’s been a long time 😄 I just suddenly wondered about smth you told me one day. That instead of writing a short story about Lucius and Bry (like the february one) , you would reserve your next book to them (and what happened in their timeline perspective) I hope you haven’t forgotten because I never did…

Do you still hold those plans for your next big book ? 🙏🏻🤞🏻><🤞🏻

Hey, darling Lola! So great to hear from you. No, I haven’t forgotten about Luc and Bry’s criminal/legal mystery story. It is up in my queue of writing projects. I want to focus on wrapping up the main Gaius/Allerix story and then I have a contemporary thriller and Luc & Bry’s book. Thanks for your patience.

Oh, the audiobook of Book 1!!! Our narrator has crafted the most exquisite voices for Lucius and Bry. Bryaxis has this adorable, light Scottish accent that is swoon worthy. I hope you’ll give the audiobook a try when it comes out later this month. 💋💋

Oh I’m very excited about the audio then! You know I have a gigantic bias towards Bry (and Luc (they’re a set after all)) so it’s good to know their voice actors will do them all the credit they deserve.

In that case, I don’t know if it’s too much to ask for a year date ? For when you think you’ll start on their own story I mean. (just so that I keep it in mind. I might have a few personal issues in the future…) But nonetheless, I’m glad you at least haven’t forgotten and keep my fav character at heart 🙏🏻❤️ And for being so close to your readers like this.

I’m fairly certain folks will enjoy the audio A LOT! And Bry does get one of the sweetest and most unique voices. Lucius is just hilariously perfect.

Oh gods, my readers have the patience of saints. ❤️❤️ I don’t have a date yet, sadly – my day job situation is radically changing next year (retirement!) so my hope is to write more and faster. Promise I’ll keep Bry and Luc at the top of the pile. xoxo
